NEED ADVICE on tracking my holdings in mutual funds . . .

May 15th, 2007 at 05:37 pm

We have several mutual funds held in 401k and Roth IRA's and every now and than we purchase stocks. So, does anyone know a good site to track the holdings in each?

I just recently purchased a stock and didn't realize that it was one of the biggest holdings in 2 of our mutual funds.
Thankfully the stock is doing great, but I really don't want to buy stocks I already own in a mutual fund.

So, basically I need to find out how other people track this. Thanks for all your input!!!!!

    Go to
    http://finance.yahoo.com/lookup
and put in the name or symbol of whatever you want to look up. Click on Holdings and it will populate w/the info. you're looking for.

I really am looking for something that will show all the holdings at once from different mutual funds not just one at a time. But thanks for the response.

You can do the portfolio x-ray at Morningstar.com, but I don't know of any way to track this on a dynamic basis since mutual fund holdings are constantly changing and they don't report them in real time.

go to www.nasdaq.com and do a 'flash quote' for the ticker of the fund you want information about. in the resulting page, click the link to the left for the 'fund profile'.

on the next page, click the tab for 'portfolio' and scroll down, you'll see the top 25 holdings for that fund based on percent of allocation.
