8 months of Emergency Cash???

Suze Orman says to save 8 months of emergency cash. I currently have 3 and feel more than comfortable.
What do you have?

    2 yrs. Its in my fixed income portion of my portfolio and it means I have some "blow money" and it gives me the confidence to really invest.

    About 3-4 months in an emergency fund but actually likely have funds available for 6-8 months of frugal living.

    I have at least a year of expenses sitting in a high interest account. Call me paranoid. I like having a big cushion. I have been unemployed for 3.5 months so having the emergency fund is a comfort.

    I have about 2 months right now, historically 6 months. Frankly I would love to have 1-3 years. Wink But I will get it up to 6 months to a year and let it build with time. IT really depends on your personality I think. 1 year is probably a good long-term goal. 3 months is good to start. These things do take time.

    I am saving my 1-3 years for a really bad economic downturn or something of that nature. Or just something really unforeseen. I like to be prepared for the worst so it is a personal preference thing.

    At this point I have about 5 years. But, I will use about half of this to buy land and build a spec house.

    I'm still working on building mine. Right now I'm inching towards $1k which is not even half of my take home pay any given month. I'd like to have 6 months of gross which I think I could make stretch for at least a year if I had to.
